I must admit that apart from England I've watched virtually nothing of this tournament but I've heard this from a few people, is he a moments player that is poor off the ball or something?
German Railways have suffered from low investment for years coupled with relatively low fares which reduces income. A lot of German infrastructure is in the same state - I believe their broadband is worse than the UK. The stadium issues come from the structure of German football which is not full of money and has to spend more and more on players to remain competitive in European competitions.
I don't quite see what Europe has to do with the fact that Germany is really going through a difficult time. It's worth travelling, seeing the world, and you'll find that a lot of other European countries are doing much better. For example, rail transport works perfectly well even in countries traditionally disrespected by the British, like Spain or Italy. There is no point in projecting the structural problems of the German economy and the truly shocking decline of Deutsche Bahn onto the whole continent.
Dutch press were writing it wasnot a good PR by the Bundesbahn by fecking up the travel of the Orange Squad from Wolfsburg to Dortmund with hours of delay.
The BBC had a topic a few years ago about the state of railway travel in the UK and went to the Netherlands to see how we were faring by taking the train to a few destinations. They were full of praise, clockwork precision, clean modern trains, clean modern railway stations etc., ......while in that same period the Dutch themselves were complaining about the NS services Either we were spoiled bratts or at that time British train travel was wanting.
UK public transport is the worst in the OECD which is basically the entire developed world. It’s Thatcher’s looney privatisation of natural monopoly’s that is the route cause of it. Although German rail is taking a bit of a bashing here, in both Germany and France you can buy a ticket to travel on any type of public transport anywhere in the country for a month for approx £40! That is totally alien concept to the UK mind, imagine how much more internal tourism there would be if that was available here! The real kicker about all this is though, guess who are the majority shareholders in two of the companies that hold most of the UK rail franchises? ……..Germany and France. We basically sold our national services to foreign governments that use the profits to subsidise theirs! This has to be one of the dumbest things any country has ever done. I have used European rail networks, although not Italian or Spanish. The Swiss rail that I used was very good. A lot of that is just how much quieter it is there than in the UK. I really enjoyed Holland for the same reason, it’s just so much more chill than the UK as a country. France on the other hand…
🚨🇫🇷 Didier Deschamps will stay as France head coach until World Cup 2026.FFF president Diallo: “Deschamps has a contract and he’s achieved the sporting objective that was set for him. Didier will continue his mission”, Diallo told L’Équipé. pic.twitter.com/wpfNPPbR4x— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 10, 2024
I think he'll be world class so long as they don't run him into the ground. On the ball his game is already mature and technically very good, he just probably need to get more experience when it comes to movement, and needs to develop more physically before he becomes a real world beater. I think the nay-saying comes from the fact that he flits in and out of games and isn't all that explosive as some people expect a wide player to be.
Congrats lads. End second half it could fall either way, but unfortunately for us it went your way. Well played!
Commiserations to you sir. Your team certainly represented you well. Knockout football is cruel at the best of times, but you've plenty enough talent coming through to come again in the future.
Fought yourselves tactically into a match you had no right. Great tournament with the low expectations. Team did you proud and probably frankly a bit unlucky with the pen.
How the ******** dies martinez keep getting these big jobs. He couldn't organise a piss up In a brewery
1842170640331075704 is not a valid tweet id Belgium have a pretty hard group and will probably end up in the playoff between 3rd and 2nd in League B.
France head coach Didier Deschamps was left stunned after seeing Kylian Mbappe included in Real Madrid's weekend squad just a day after refusing to select him for national team duty, according to reports. (Mail on Sunday)
I wonder if Mbappe is becoming the new edan hazard and moving to Real will be the kiss of death to his career.
Probably not but it sounds like he and Real might have told Deschamps his injury was worse than it what it is.
