New from me this morning:For nearly a decade, Union owners Jay Sugarman and Richie Graham have been betting on the future. Those bets have finally paid off.I spoke at length with both of them about what achieving this season's successes really took.https://t.co/nhyJjbrTPg pic.twitter.com/lq7848d8EG— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) November 23, 2020
Strong showings from both Aaronson and McKenzie tonight against El Salvador. Both scored although they stupidly called back McKenzie’s.

Looks like it was a friendly v a second division team but not a bad way to start out. He seems to like to announce his presence with a nutmeg of the keeper (see Union v Atlanta).

Brotherly Game @BrotherlyGame 1h The Philadelphia Union Academy U17 and U15 teams restart their 2021-2022 MLS Next seasons tomorrow down in Virginia with matches against DC United at noon and 2 p.m. at Segra Field. The U17s were 7-1-0 in league play in the fall and the U15s were 5-2-1.
https://theathletic.com/5374618/202...TJ4Hqq0uFgNPtz9tJDzt5llo6ipIo1lyomEHWI9yky1hc According to sources briefed on the deal — who, like all those cited in this article, asked to remain anonymous as they did not have permission to speak — City will pay around $2.1million (£1.7m) upfront for Sullivan, who has not yet signed a professional contract. If all bonuses are triggered, the fee could move closer to $5m. Philadelphia will also retain a hefty sell-on clause.
I know I'm just betraying my own ignorance here, but if Sullivan hadn't signed anything with anyone, why would the Union be involved at all? Why couldn't he just sign directly with Manchester City (or whomever)?
Article today in "The Athletic" (paywall) about the 12 most talked about prospects from the U17 tournament. 4 of the 12 play for the Union; Cavan Sullivan born '09, Niel Pierre born '07, Jamir Johnson born '08 and Diego Rocio born '07 (and named player of the tournament). No other team had more than 1. Hopefully this will continue to build Union reputation attracting more talented youth in the future.
